The news ticker is a component that stays usually at the top of
the screen and displays the headlines of the news as they come. The news
ticker in AgileRss reader can be customized as you want from preferences
panel. It is accesible from AgileRss menu in Tools submenu.
News Ticker Functionality
It will display the number of maximum unread articles specified in
configuration panel form application preferences if all the scrolled
news was shown for the minimum number of times also specified in
configuration panel. If the refresh task of AgileRss reader came with a
number of articles bigger than the one specified for the ticker, these
will be scrolled all of them.
An article (represented by his headline on the ticker) will be
removed from ticker in one of the following cases:
the article is read from AgileRss interface
the article was shown for the maximum number of times defined
for ticker and the number of scrolling articles is greater than the
specified one
the article is double-clicked on the ticker (open the article
link in the default browser)
In the contextual menu of the ticker (click mouse right button)
the user will find these options:
Running - option that starts the ticker if it is stopped or
stop it if it is running. This option is represented by a check menu
that is checked or not as the ticker is running or not.
On Top - that makes the ticker to be displayed above all other
windows - also a check menu displaying the current state
Open Selected - opens all selected ticker items on application
defined browser
Mark Selected As Read - marks all selected items as read. This
will update these informations also in rss reader clasic view
Clear Selection - resets selection, all previously marked
headlines became unmarked
Mark All Read - marks all article on the ticker as read, and
hide the ticker till new article appear
Disable Ticker - will hide the ticker band and all new
articles will not be added to ticker.
Preferences - opens the application preferences dialog
Exit - exits the application (not only the ticker)
This view can be configurated by using application configuration
operation bvy chosing "Preferences" from "Main" main menu as described
in AgileRss Configuration
